Step-Up for Teens

To the Principal,

Through Acting we learn before delivering any message, you need to understand what you want at the end of your communication.  Often, when we develop a message, we focus primarily on the words and content we are delivering. We usually also have an objective in mind, of course, even if we have not defined it carefully and precisely. What we often fail to ask ourselves is why that overall message should be important to our audience? Why should they care? What would make them care? We neglect to pair intention with objective. This lack of awareness is fatal to effective communication.

The Agni Acting Studio, offer high level acting workshops to schools. The workshops incorporate text delivery and practical lessons that actors use to improve their communication, awareness, concentration and listening skills. The students explore the basic skills and techniques used in acting and learn about
Stanislavski (Constantine Stanislavski developed the grammar that is employed by actors and directors to this day) approach to acting.

The aim of the workshop is to provide transformative values through an acting experience to its participants while also facilitating team bonding and building on creative expression in a group setting.

As a result students have what we like to call serious fun! (It’s very common to witness
twenty kids in fits of laughter at an Agni workshop).

The workshops are facilitated by two tutors. Our tutors have considerable experience
working with all groups from high risk-teens to the elderly and everyone in-between.

We would be very interested in speaking with you about our approach to using the art
of acting to enable the personal and group development of your students. Please do not
hesitate to contact us for detailed information.

Yours sincerely,

Hope Brown
Artistic Director

What can we say, we have all been there!  Insecurity, peer-pressure, depression, isolation are to name just a few of the challenges that teens are faced with.  And we can all agree that communication – verbal or non-verbal are really our only saving graces.  This is why at the Agni Acting Studio (A.A.S) we are making it our business to support these young adults through their development, by helping them to become more comfortable with themselves and everyone else around them.  Here at AAS we know how to create a safe space even with the most challenging of groups.  We just have a knack for making people feel comfortable enough to be more their authentic selves and we have found from our experience that teens are really no different!
